On August 23, 2024, nonprofit, university, and other community leaders in Athens, Georgia gathered at the University of Georgia’s Delta Innovation Hub to celebrate the launch of IVolunteerNow, a mobile app for volunteering in Georgia. Preliminary available in Athens, the mobile app will identify the user’s live location and show them volunteer projects to sign-up and volunteer. Having won the University of Georgia Kickstarter Fund in 2022 and the Truist Community Pitch Event in 2023, the mobile app will make volunteering fun, easy, and equitable for people in Athens, Georgia and beyond.
The app is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Users can simply sign-up to support their favorite nonprofits and causes by volunteering on-demand. Users can keep track of their future and past projects seamlessly and also share projects to volunteer together with friends and family.
Nathan Stuck, CEO of Profitable Purpose Consulting opened the floor for the launch by sharing his story about trash collection. Stuck has been collecting trash and mobilizing people to do the same through social media. Nipuna Ambanpola, Executive Director of IVolunteer International took the stage after Stuck and emphasized that the app will empower individual people who want to take action.
IVolunteer International has big plans for their ecosystem. After the app launch, the nonprofit will work to launch IVolunteerGo, an enterprise software for nonprofits that is connected to the app and IVolunteerMap, a Georgia-wide database of volunteer mobility data accessible to researchers and public organizations from the app.
