[Savannah, Georgia | September 17, 2019 -] In an effort to provide a virtual publishing space for budding authors, researchers, activists, debaters, thinkers, and creators, IVolunteer International is launching an online internship program called “Writers Council.”
Interns will contribute to the organization’s blog by submitting articles on any of the 7 topics – capacity development, conferences and commemorations, human rights and security, research and opinion, sustainable development goals, volunteer stories, and women and youth. The internship will continue for 1-semester (renewable) and will be eligible for college credit in accepting colleges and universities in the United States. Interns will have the opportunity to work with a global team and network with other international organizations.
“Young and budding publishers have a lot of challenges. It’s hard to get published on a platform that has a strong audience. But students have a lot to share. Our blog’s readership is large, and the interns will get critical feedback that will help their writing and publishing skills from our experienced editors. It is also a virtual internship, so it’s much easier to balance academics and other life engagements while developing writing and publishing skills”
Nipuna Ambanpola, Executive Director
All articles authored by the interns will be hosted on IVolunteer International’s blog and all interns will have a permanent personalized link to their articles on the website. This automatically builds an online portfolio for these writers which they can use in their resumes and applications.
All university students in the United States are invited to apply while students studying journalism, professional communications, writing, English, and fields related to writing and publishing are highly encouraged. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and students can apply online at www.ivint.org/careers.
