In March of 2020, IVolunteer International signed a public-private partnership with East Taylor Creatives, a software company in Savannah, Georgia, to design and develop a social impact mobile application. The app will include features such as a real-time volunteer projects newsfeed, easy project sign-up, location-based customization among others.
“The mobile app will change the way volunteers are connected to their communities. Users will be able to volunteer for causes they care about, whenever they are free. There is a lot for the nonprofit industry to gain from this” said Akash Shah, Chief Technical Officer of IVolunteer International. Shah is a graduate of Savannah College of Arts & Design and has a degree in mobile and interactive design.
The mobile app will be launched in late August this year in Savannah, Georgia. In an effort to strengthen and expand the impact of this new product, IVolunteer International has brought together a group of mentors, leaders, industry experts, and consultants to form a new Board of Advisors.
The members of the new Board of Advisors include;
- Dr. Jennifer Frum, Vice President for Public Service & Outreach at the University of Georgia;
- Scott Center, Chairman of World Trade Center Savannah;
- Jennifer Graham, Executive Director of Shelter From The Rain Inc.;
- Kevin Lawver, Co-Founder of TechSavannah;
- Marjorie Young, Founder of Carriage Trade Public Relations;
- George Seaborough, Executive Director of Savannah Chatham Citizen Advocacy; and
- Sarah McConville, Director of Volunteers at the United Way of the Coastal Empire.
The first Board of Directors and Advisors meeting was held via zoom on May 16, 2020. The Advisors will consult IVolunteer International on its long-term goals, provide advice to expand the social impact mobile app, and connect the organization to potential collaborators and stakeholders.
“This is a monumental time for volunteers and nonprofits alike. While this provides the capacity for individual people to volunteer and track their impact, it will bolster volunteer engagement for nonprofits. The board of advisors is our next big step forward, to spread our impact across Georgia and later, the country and the world.” said Bob Lee, President of the Board of Directors.
