IVolunteer International is a volunteer advocacy tech-nonprofit based in Savannah, Georgia. Since establishment in 2017, the organization has grown in size and impact. As a tech-nonprofit, IVolunteer International uses technology to empower people and communities to efficiently engage in impact.
In 2020 during the pandemic, a lot of people wanted to become volunteers and help. But they couldn’t engage in traditional volunteer opportunities because of safety issues. That’s when we got into action – we were able to train, empower, and connect volunteers around the world to their communities
Nipuna Ambanpola, Executive Director
The theme of IVolunteer International’s 2020 Impact Report is “Volunteers in the Frontlines.” It brings to the spotlight of the importance of volunteering and the use of technology to accelerate social impact.
“A lot of private companies use technology, especially in prediction, to use what products and services to offer. The social impact sector is lagging behind. We need to be able to produce software, technologies, and algorithms that can predict where our impact is most needed in real-time.” Ambanpola added.
In 2020, IVolunteer Introduced virtual impact-to-action volunteer training programs. They were conducted to community advocates and university students around the world. Over 180 participants have gone through this training so far. IVolunteer International also added a Professional Development Training to their global Writers’ Council Fellowship youth activist training program. The program has trained 19 young leaders from Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Asia and has exposed over 15 social causes on their blog.
IVolunteer International’s other advocacy platforms also saw tremendous growth last year. GroceryAid was launched to connect volunteers with people who needed grocery delivery support during the pandemic in Georgia. BirthdayDeed, which is an online pledge campaign to do good on your birthday has received over 250+ pledges. In a couple of months, IVolunteer International will launch a volunteering mobile app for Georgia called IVolunteerNow which will enable Georgians to volunteer for causes they care about in real-time.
