Introducing IVolunteer‘s Sri Lanka Country Representative, Pasindu Liyanage.
Who is Pasindu?
Pasindu is an Electrical and Electronics Sri Lankan Graduate, and an avid volunteer. At only the age of 24, he secured a job as a Research and Development Engineer at one of the biggest Technology companies in Sri Lanka.
An intellectually gifted Engineer and a People’s Guy
Pasindu is a very interesting individual. As a hard-working young Sri Lankan, he won several projects in Robotics nationally and internationally. Thanks to his knowledge, he also serves as a part-time lecturer in Robotics. His brilliance in the STEM field, however, did not push him away from his passion to help others. As a volunteer, Pasindu has been involved with Rotaract for over a decade (crazy, we know). He served as Interact President and member of the Interact District 3220. Pasindu has always wanted to make an impact, like all IVolunter’s Staff. He has always believed that “you should be the change you want to see in the world”. His empathy and willingness to find problems and help solve them led him to focus on innovation for several projects destined to help the needy. Basically, when you mix engineering and human-centred approaches, you get Pasindu!
Involvement with IVolunteer
Like most staff executives, it is thanks to a club meeting that Pasindu met Nipuna, our Executive Director. However, Nipuna and Pasindu go years back. They actually met in 2011 at an Interact Leadership Training Program and have been really good friends ever since. Pasindu noted “I’ve always been inspired by Nipuna as an exceptional leader as well as one of the most down to earth human beings that I’ve ever met in my life. As soon as we were done with Interact, Nipuna came up with this brilliant idea to start IVolunteer International”. Pasindu quickly jumped in anticipating a great future for this newly established organization. He first joined as the CFO then became the Sri Lankan Country Representative when IVolunteer registered as a Non-Profit Organization in the United States.
Future Aspirations as Brilliant as his Current Work
For the future, Pasindu dares to dream big! He wants to “come up with innovative solutions to overcome the challenges faced by the society around [him]”. In fact, it is why he chose to pursue higher studies in electrical and electronics engineering focusing mainly on robotics and automation. Pasindu’s dream is to “use these latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation to develop innovative solutions to help communities” whether in Sri Lanka or around the world.
A Piece of Advice
Pasindu had so many great pieces of advice for our readers. He highlighted that: “When you do good it will surely come back to you. That’s the law of nature”. He also pointed to how you should “always try to help someone in need. It does not have to be a big thing, it can be the simplest thing for you but it will make a huge impact on someone’s life and it will surely brighten up their day”. Pasindu is a strong believer in the fact that a small act of kindness can create endless ripples.

IVolunteer International is a Gold Seal nonprofit organization on Guidestar. Operating from Savannah, Georgia, IVolunteer International connects volunteers to volunteer projects around the world. Since 2017, IVolunteer has connected over 3,000 volunteers worldwide. In 2019, World Trade Center Savannah selected IVolunteer International as finalists of the Peace Through Trade Competition. In 2020, IVolunteer International will develop and launch a geo-connecting mobile application which will be available to volunteers around the world.
