The Law Students’ Union (LSU) 2016 of Sri Lanka Law College with the unwavering guidance of the Council of Legal Education, Sri Lanka and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) spearheaded the inaugural National Law Students’ Conference (NLSC) with the aim of creating a platform for budding lawyers of Sri Lanka to engage in a cross generation legal discussion with renowned national legal figures. The event took place on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2016 at the Sri Lanka Law College and Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
IVolunteer International was a part of this national project and cause as official volunteer partners. We rolled out a sign-up sheet, giving a volunteer vacancy for individuals who are interested in volunteering for the event to help out as social media fellows and provide assistance in event logistics.
The event was graced by many distinguished officials such as the Attorney General of Sri Lanka and other notable individuals in the legislature and justice department of Sri Lanka. The event also included side events, hosted by partnering and sponsoring organizations. The two days included panel discussions, where key issues and legal reforms on specific subjects were discussed with the delegates attending the conference.
We would like to thank the organizing committee of the National Law Students’ Conference for their initiative which definitely contributed for youth engagement and enhancement. On behalf of all the stakeholders of the event we would also like to thank all our energetic volunteers who were present on the day, to make the event a massive success!
